Natalee Holloway Case Has a Place in Congress - The National Ledger
This writer *says* that he’s against governmental regulation, but he’s not.
It seems that more and more people are seeking governmental interventions as remedies to a lack of personal responsibility.
What about people who are parents being responsible and teaching their kids about safety, no matter how awkward the subject may be? What about young people taking responsibiity for their stupid mistakes (god knows I made huge mistakes in my youth and paid for them - and later learned from them).
And yeah, one’s life is a horrible price to pay for a stupid mistake, but… do we really want the government to step in each time a young person does something stupid (or dangerous or risky)?
Good grief.
And what about stuff going on in the rest of the world??? Oy, vey.

natalie would have had a place in congress if she would have lived to be a full grown adult and stood for election, and won.
but you’re right, she probably made some bad choices, which ended her at the bottom of the sea, or somewhere. and now she
can’t stand for election for anything. people need to take command of their lives and own their decisions and choices. like
you say, parents should talk to kids about drinking, consequences and all that. so should schools, epecially if they are
going to take groups of students on trips like the one natalie went on. kids look like adults, they do adult activities,
but they don’t have the life lessons, experience, and they depend on adults to tell them this. here is a good example of
what happens when they don’t. sad but true.
